Seed MatchFund Campaign 2024: We raised £1,189,145!

London & Manchester, UK, 20th May 2024 – Seed, the UK’s leading charity organisation providing adult and family Jewish education, is delighted to announce it has raised £1,189,145 as a result of its 2024 Matchfund campaign. Seed’s campaign, themed Power of Belief, aimed to raise £1,000,000 in 36 hours starting on Sunday 19th May. It involved coal walk events in London and Manchester where 77 brave participants walked barefoot across 4 meters of 1500 degrees hot embers.

Coalwalker Steven Taub from Borehamwood commented: “What an unbelievable experience! This wasn’t my first time but walking on hot coals for Seed, alongside my daughter Ella was truly spectacular. Ella who at 11 was the youngest coal walker, did this as part of her Bat Mitzvah challenge. Now more than ever it is so important to teach our children to believe in themselves, their strength and their Jewish identity. Seed has shown me not only why but also how to do this. Ella and I are walking away from this event with our heads held high and feeling incredibly proud to be part of this community!”

Rabbi Malcolm Herman, CEO of Seed said: “A huge thank you to the 4797 individual donations, 77 coal walkers and 228 ambassadors who canvassed tirelessly and helped us reach our goal at this years Match Fund campaign. £1,189,145 raised is not only an incredible feat but a vital component in Seed’s overall budget of £2.3 million per annum. Our aim at Seed is to give families the power to believe in themselves and, above all, the power of belief in Am Yisrael. As coal walking is all about overcoming challenges, we felt this was particularly relevant given the world we currently live in.”

Seed provides invaluable support and education to Jewish families across the country. Since January, Seed have put on 10 shabbatons and 887 learning sessions. Now more than ever before, it’s vital to teach parents and in turn their kids to be confident and belief in their Jewish identity.  Seed’s yearly matchfund campaigns allow the charity to continue to provide families the tools they need to help raise children with the right value, a genuine self-belief and an authentic appreciation of our heritage, particularly in these increasingly challenging times.
Every donation during the Seed MatchFund Campaign was matched by generous donors. Donations are still welcome at www.charityextra.com/seed.
